Captain Tom Moore has captured the heart of the nation with his incredible fundraising efforts. The World War two veteran, who has turned 100 today, has raised almost £30million for those battling coronavirus on the frontline of the NHS.

He had planned to walk 100 laps of his 25 metre garden, completing 10 every day, by the time he turned 100. But as the money keeps pouring in, Captain Tom has vowed to keep going.

The father-of-two has also become the oldest person to score a UK number one with his rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone, recorded with Michael Ball and the NHS Voices Of Care Choir.

And Captain Tom was also surprised with a special Pride of Britain Award for his astonishing fundraising walk that inspired the nation.
