Captain Tom Moore has become a national treasure for his inspirational fundraising acheivements. The World War Two veteran, who turns 100 today, has raised almost £30million for the NHS after his incredible efforts captured the heart of the country during the coronavirus pandemic.

He had planned to walk 100 laps of his 25 metre garden, completing 10 every day, by the time he turned 100. But as the money keeps pouring in, Captain Tom has vowed to keep going.

The father-of-two has also become the oldest person to score a UK number one with his rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone, recorded with Michael Ball and the NHS Voices Of Care Choir.
