Chelsea stars would prefer discuss deferrals rather than cuts to their salary in coronavirus pay negotiations. It had been reported that the men's team would take a 10 per cent cut this month like other clubs and business in the UK but the offer was not believed to have been that high.
Blues bosses insist that discussions are ongoing and that they are still hoping to reach agreement despite extensive talks between the hierarchy and captain Cesar Azpilicueta.
Arsenal remain the only club to have agreed a pay cut with their players and the Professional Footballers’ Association is still advising players to push for deferrals rather than cuts.
