A Premier League fixture has not taken place since Leicester City thrashed Aston Villa on March 9 and the league was suspended on March 13 after the Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta contracted the coronavirus.

Although the Premier League pencilled in a provisional return date of April 3, that was then moved back until April 30 before the organisation postponed the season indefinitely.

The Premier League will hold a meeting on Friday but there is mounting uncertainty over a possible June date to resume the campaign after sport in France was banned until September.
