Manchester United chief Ed Woodward gives update on possible Premier League restart

Ed Woodward has all but confirmed Premier League fixtures would be played behind closed doors if the season restarts. A Premier League fixture has not taken place since Leicester City thrashed Aston Villa on March 9 and the league was suspended on March 13 after the Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta contracted the coronavirus.

Although the Premier League pencilled in a provisional return date of April 3, that was then moved back until April 30 before the organisation postponed the season indefinitely.

The Premier League will hold a meeting on Friday but there is mounting uncertainty over a possible June date to resume the campaign after sport in France was banned until September.
