Arsenal are yet to begin talks with Mesut Ozil over a contract extension at the Emirates, with just over a year remaining on his £350,000-a-week deal.

Ozil, 31, sparked controversy last week for turning down a pay cut amid the coronavirus pandemic, despite being the Gunners’ highest-paid player.

The German midfielder’s lucrative deal only runs until the summer of 2021, however, meaning he could negotiate a free move abroad at the turn of the year.
