Emergency services have rushed to a Christmas market fairground following reports of a ride "collapsing". Police have cordoned off the area around the ride, which is believed to be the City Flyer, a 55-metre-high attraction in in Centenary Square, Birmingham.BirminghamLive reporter Ben Perrin, on the scene, said an armed officer confirmed that the ride had collapsed and that injuries had been reported, though the severity remains unclear.
Images shared online show tangled seats on the City Flyer, while paramedics, police, and firefighters have been pictured responding to the incident.Dozens of people, along with several emergency vehicles, were seen at the scene.
The exact details of what occurred have not yet been confirmed by West Midlands Police or other emergency services.A police spokesman said: "We currently have officers in Centenary Square, #Birmingham following reports of an issue with one of the rides.A small number of people are being treated at the scene by paramedics, but no serious injuries have been reported.
