A 32 year old woman is rejoicing in her cancer-free life after undergoing the UK's pioneering liver transplant to combat advanced bowel cancer.

Bianca Perea initially visited her GP with mild symptoms, including constipation and bloating. Following a series of tests, including blood tests, a stool sample, colonoscopy, and biopsy, she received the devastating diagnosis of stage four bowel cancer in November 2021, with the disease having spread extensively throughout her liver.

Ms Perea recalled: "I actually didn't have really bad symptoms at all." She experienced only minor changes in her bowel habits, some bloating, and slight stomach pain - nothing that prevented her from wearing her clothes comfortably, but enough to cause concern.

However, after seeing a cancer advert on TV, she said it would "jump out of the TV at me."
