India is witnessing a sharp jump in covid-19 cases in the current week, with nearly half of the total cases being recording since Sunday.
In the current week, India has recorded 819 cases, with the largest jump of 349 being witnessed on Tuesday. “Due to the Nizamuddin incident, there is a spike in cases," said Lav Agarwal, joint secretary, ministry of health and family welfare.
There were 143 new cases across the country on Wednesday, taking the total number of patients to 1,743, at the time of publishing.
Of these, 1,563 are receiving treatment, while 135 have recovered. A total of 47,951 tests have been done for covid-19, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research.
