Liverpool may have to delay the expansion of Anfield because of the coronavirus outbreak. The Reds wanted to start the £60m work on the Anfield Road stand before the end of this year.

That would allow them to plan to open the redeveloped stand in time for the 2022-23 season. But the knock-on effect the outbreak is having on the construction industry is set to push back their plans.

They were also set to put their planning application proposal in this summer but that is expected to be delayed also. Liverpool have already had to halt work on the redevelopment of their Kirkby academy which will become the first-team training base from next season.
