The Government and NHS have issued guidance on how to stop coronavirus spreading when washing your laundry. If you are in self-isolation because you or a loved one has the virus you still need to do the daily chores.

As well as cleaning surfaces and rooms daily to prevent the spread of germs it's important to also wash dirty clothes. But there is one very important rule to follow when doing this.

People are being told not to shake their dirty laundry to minimise the possibility of dispersing the virus through the air. The NHS says it's important to wash your hands after handling dirty laundry and to make sure you don't leave laundry in the washing machine because any remaining germs can multiply rapidly.
