Coronavirus lockdown sees British Army on the streets supplying hospitals

The British Army has been deployed to help with the effort to tackle coronavirus, as military convoys were spotted delivering crucial supplies to hospitals.

Soldiers delivered protective equipment including face masks to help frontline NHS staff with the war against COVID-19. Members of the 101 Logistic Brigade have been called in to help with this unprecedented global health crisis.

A convoy was seen pulling up outside St Thomas' Hospital in London on Tuesday morning after Boris Johnson announced a new series of measures designed to slow down the spread of the virus.

It comes after the army announced it had 20,000 troops on standby as part of a "COVID Support Force", as well as 10,000 specially trained personnel at "higher readiness"
