Dagenham fire: More than 100 evacuated and two taken to hospital

Over 100 individuals were evacuated and two hospitalised as a fire engulfed a building in Dagenham, East London, in the early hours of Monday morning.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said they are conducting a "significant search and rescue operation" after being alerted to the fire on Freshwater Road at 2.44am on Monday.

The building is known to have safety issues, according to the service. The LFB said that 45 engines and approximately 225 firefighters are tackling the blaze, which has engulfed the entire mixed-use commercial and residential building, including the surrounding scaffolding and roof.
