A doctor who helped save Prime Minister Boris Johnson's life previously warned the coronavirus will give some patients "long-term" effects if they have been critical with the killer bug.

Professor Nicholas Hart also compared Covid-19 to polio, the serious viral infection which wreaked havoc in the 20th century.
