FA to ready to hand over £100million National Football Centre to battle coronavirus

The FA is ready to hand over its showpiece £100m National Football Centre in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic. The 330-acre St George's Park complex near Burton-on-Trent is on red alert to be turned into a field hospital should local health authorities require it.

The FA confirmed that all ways of co-operating to help deal with the global pandemic are being considered including the use of Wembley Stadium.

The UK has recorded its highest daily death rate yet with a further 569 fatalities taking the total to 2,961. The peak number of cases is predicted to be on April 12 with the NHS already struggling to cope with a country in lockdown.
