A family-of-six drove to the Lake District for a trip out during the nationwide coronavirus lockdown - but were stopped by police at Windermere and told to go home.
They had travelled more than 80 miles from Leigh in Wigan. Cumbria Police revealed the astonishing stop in a now viral post on Twitter.
The force said 'all routes' into the Lakes were being policed to combat the spread of coronavirus. Police also shared a photograph of the car stopped.
Two adults and six children were inside. Officers stopped the family's car at Windermere and they were told to return home to Leigh.
