The number of people lost to coronavirus has risen once again in Greater Manchester. A further 55 people have died having contracted COVID-19, NHS bosses said today (Saturday).

Figures show at least 1,171 have died. The data only relates to those who have died at NHS hospitals. The total number of deaths caused by coronavirus is likely to be far higher.

Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust recorded the highest rise in deaths today with another 25 patients lost. Both Bolton NHS Foundation Trust and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust recorded a further nine deaths each.

There were a further seven deaths at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.
