Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is an English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality. He is currently a co-presenter of the ITV Breakfast programme Good Morning Britain from Monday to Wednesday each week. Morgan began his career in Fleet Street as a writer and editor for several tabloid papers, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Good Morning Britain viewers were left divided as Piers Morgan was forced to miss the programme after displaying coronavirus symptoms.

The 55-year-old presenter revealed at the weekend that he would not be hosting today's show but had taken a test and would most likely discover the results today.

Piers was replaced by Ben Shephard and while some viewers were much happier about the change in line-up, others pleaded for Piers to return.

One tweeted: "Tuned into #gmb this morning - only because Piers isn’t working today! Much improved viewing!" While another commented: "If Piers has it I'd love to know where he caught it from after all these weeks of abiding by the strict lockdown & hygiene rules!?
