The Health Secretary has warned against 'waging a campaign' to suggest Lucy Letby is innocent. The convicted serial baby killer, 35, is serving 15 whole-life terms following two trials at Manchester Crown Court.
Former neonatal nurse Letby was found guilty of murdering seven infants and attempting to murder seven others, with two attempts on one of her victims, at the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016.
But the convictions have come under increased scrutiny in recent weeks. An international panel of neonatologists presented their own findings on the case at a press conference, where veteran Conservative MP Sir David Davis labelled Letby's convictions as 'one of the major injustices of modern times'.
A former Countess boss has also spoken of her belief that Letby is innocent. But Health Secretary Wes Streeting says he will believe Letby's conviction for killing and attempting to kill babies is fair unless a court decides otherwise.
