Hiker in 15m plunge from Munro airlifted to hospital with serious head injury

A hiker has been airlifted to hospital for treatment to a serious head injury after plunging 15m from a Munro in the Highlands.

Mountain Rescue Teams were scrambled Sgurr na Carnach, Five Sisters of Kintail, after receiving reports of the horror fall on Saturday, July 6.

Crews attended and it emerged that the hillwalker had fallen around 15m from a rocky section near the summit of the 1,002m Munro.The casualty was airlifted to hospital for treatment of a serious head injury, where their current condition is unknown.

Images from the scene show the hiker being stretchered onto the helicopter by mountain rescue teams.A statement from Scottish Mountain Rescue reads: "Glenelg Mountain Rescue team were called out on Saturday afternoon to assist neighbouring Kintail Mountain Rescue with an injured hillwalker who had taken a 10 to 15m fall down a steep section of rock near the summit of the Five Sisters of Kintail."Kintail MRT said the walker had sustained a serious head injury and Rescue helicopter 151 was tasked to uplift the casualty but due to low cloud cover was unable to do so.
