Fire crews have raced to a major blaze in Glasgow city centre this evening. Emergency services scrambled to Carlton Place, near the River Clyde, in the Gorbals area after the alarm was raised at around 8pm on Monday.
Images shared with Glasgow Live showed flames tearing through the roof and windows of the building as firefighters surrounded the area.
Locals across the city reported seeing black smoke billowing into the sky as the fire ripped through the top of the building.
The fire could be seen bursting through the roof of the building which backs onto the historic Carlton building. Labour MSP Paul Sweeney posted on X, formally Twitter, saying: "Another fire at the historic Carlton Place terrace.
