House fire sparks large emergency service response in Stockport

A house fire has seen a large emergency service response in Stockport this afternoon. A blaze broke out at a terraced house in Brinnington just after 3pm.

Four fire engines were dispatched to the scene on Brinnington Road, as well as police who cordoned off the road. Firefighters donned breathing apparatus as they tackled the flames. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue confirmed no one was inside the property and that one one had been injured.

The fire has now been extinguished but a number of crews remain at the scene dealing with the aftermath. Join our WhatsApp Top Stories and Breaking News group by clicking this link A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly after 3.10pm this afternoon (Sunday, May 5), four fire engines from Stockport, Wythenshawe, Offerton and Whitehill fire stations were called to attend a house fire on Brinnington Road, Stockport. “Crews arrived quickly and used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire. “Firefighters remain at the scene at this time and are working alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service to make the area safe.” No further details about the fire including its suspected cause have yet been released.
