Carl, 35, who was with the star on and off for three and a half years before they called it quits for good last November, witnessed many of Katie's operations throughout their relationship.

One was during a couple’s trip to Istanbul, where he was going to have full body liposuction alongside the 46 year old, but lost his nerve once he saw the “shocking state” of her when she was wheeled out of the operating theatre. “I got wrapped up in it all for a while – because she was constantly on this mission for perfection, so I started criticising myself.

But when I saw her after her lipo, I was like, ‘Oh, my God. No, no way are they doing that to me,'" he told OK!. “She looked like she’d been hit by a train.

I told the doctors to take my cannula out there and then, and said, ‘I’m not going through with it.’ She looked like an octopus, she had so many drains coming out of her.
