Liverpool have reportedly asked Timo Werner's representatives for more time as they weigh up whether to make a £52million transfer bid for the RB Leipzig striker this summer.

Werner had been expected to join the Reds this summer, but the club have had to put the move on hold as Mirror Sport revealed on Friday they are reassessing their summer spending plans amid the coronavirus crisis.

However, the 24-year-old has made it clear he wants to seek a new challenge abroad this summer after four years at Leipzig. With the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Juventus also believed to be interested in Werner, Liverpool run the risk of missing out on him if they stick to their plan of not making any big transfer moves.
