Liverpool transfer target Timo Werner says he'd rather come to the Premier League than join Bayern Munich - but his admission has come at the wrong time for the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp's side were widely expected to swoop for Werner this summer, with the RB Leipzig hotshot having fired 21 goals in 25 Bundesliga games this season as well as scoring a further four in the Champions League.
But champions-elect Liverpool now look virtually certain to do no transfer spending this summer, as the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic begins to be felt by even Europe's top sides.
So it will be of little comfort to Reds fans that Werner has declared he'd prefer the challenge of playing abroad to that of joining Bundesliga leaders Bayern.
