A married couple who dedicated their lives to caring for more than 100 foster children have died within weeks of each other.
Barbara Newell was married to Allan for 48 years and spent 36 of those as foster carers. The 67-year-old died from lung disease a month before her Allan, 72, died of coronavirus, their heartbroken daughter said.
The couple, who had three children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, had won an award for their dedicated service to foster care, which saw them take in in more than 100 youngsters and provide a safe home for severely disabled children.
Tragically Barbara died on March 7 after having terminal pulmonary fibrosis since 2017. Allan had lovingly cared for her as her as her condition deteriorated
