Saturday Kitchen star Matt Tebbutt has opened up about his health journey, revealing that a recent health scare led him to overhaul his diet.

In 2022, the beloved 50 year old chef was rushed to hospital for an emergency appendix removal, prompting an outpouring of support from fans.

Despite returning to the BBC show just two weeks after surgery, driven by the pressures of being self-employed, Matt has since taken steps to become more health-conscious. "I wanted to get a better understanding of how I'm ticking along and, yeah, I recently had one of those full body MOTs and, thankfully, that all came out well," he explained. "I'm good, I'm OK, and going to keep doing what I'm doing." The culinary expert also shared that he's been making dietary changes to "restock" his body and manage his glucose levels. "You just sort of take stock of where you're at, how much you're eating, how much you're drinking, late nights, going out, stuff like that," he said. "It did have a big effect actually, so yeah, I came out of the other side thinking, OK let's just pace this a little bit better," reports the Express.

Partnering with Lingo, Matt is now tracking which foods affect his glucose levels and is offering advice on making smart swaps, especially during the festive season.
