Nursery where toddler, 2, died in medical emergency issues statement

A nursery has confirmed it will remain closed for the remainder of the week after the death of a two-year-old boy.The child was rushed to hospital after attending Early Learners Day Nursery in Bootle at 12.35pm on Tuesday.

The tot was rushed in for treatment following a "medical emergency" but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.Police have launched an investigation into the boy's death.

Inquiries are ongoing. Meanwhile, bosses at the nursery confirmed the premises would remain closed for the coming week, reports the Mirror.

A statement reads: "Dear parents and carers, as you are aware, this afternoon a medical emergency occurred at the nursery. It is with devastating sadness that we have to inform you of a child's passing."To enable everyone to process today's tragic events, we have made the decision to close the nursery for the remainder of the week, and also to allow us to continue working with relevant agencies.
