More than 12,000 people have died in UK from coronavirus as death toll increases

The UK death toll has reached more than 12,000 and more than 93,000 people have tested positive for coronavirus. The death toll is up by 778 from 11,329 at the same time yesterday.

The number of confirmed cases is up by 5,252 from 88,621 at the same time yesterday. The latest update from the Department of Health reads: "As of 9am 14 April, 382,650 tests have concluded, with 14,982 tests on 13 April.

302,599 people have been tested of which 93,873 tested positive. "As of 5pm on 13 April, of those hospitalised in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus, 12,107 have sadly died." The NHS said a further 744 people have died with coronavirus in England bringing the total number of recorded deaths there to 11,005.
