New guidance has been issued for the construction industry in response to the coronavirus crisis as several contractors announced they are shutting all sites.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson last night announced a total lockdown of the country, telling people to stay at home except to buy food and 'basic necessities', exercise once a day, or to go to work if 'absolutely necessary'.
But there was immediately confusion over a wide range of jobs and whether staff should stay at home. In particular, thousands of construction workers in Greater Manchester and around the country were left unsure whether they should go to work or not.
