Greater Manchester has united in its support for the Prime Minister Boris Johnson after he was moved into intensive care to fight coronavirus.

Mr Johnson, 55, tested positive for Covid-19 ten days ago and has been self-isolating in Downing Street ever since. His condition worsened over the weekend and he was admitted to St Thomas' hospital on Sunday night.

Despite assurances issued about Mr Johnson's health earlier today, Number 10 confirmed tonight that he had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

He is still conscious and Downing Street said this was a precaution in the event he needs to be put onto a ventilator. According to widespread reports, Mr Johnson experienced problems breathing this afternoon and required oxygen.
