TRENTON, N.J. - A woman who says she suffered serious injuries while trying to save her neighbors’ dog from a canal can’t sue the pooch’s owners, New Jersey’s Supreme Court ruled on Monday.The court unanimously rejected Ann Samolyk’s claims that laws allowing legal action for injuries suffered while rescuing a person who put themselves in peril should allow her to sue for damages.

But the justices acknowledged that the law could apply to property in some cases where protecting human life also is the ultimate aim.In her lawsuit, Samolyk alleged she suffered neurological and cognitive damage after jumping into the canal in Lacey Township at the New Jersey shore in 2017 to save the dog after she heard someone call for help.

Mumbai city in Maharastra on Tuesday logged 420 Covid-19 cases, a rise of almost 79 per cent infection in a matter of 24 hours, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official said. On Monday, Mumbai had recorded 235 cases. The death toll, due to the Covid-19 infection, stood unchanged for the fourth day in a row at 19,624.

Man, 69, dies after being stabbed in the chest in Kensington, police say

PHILADELPHIA - Police say a man was fatally stabbed in Kensington early Tuesday morning. According to authorities, officers with the Philadelphia Police Department responded to the 2400 block of Kensington Avenue for a report of a person with a weapon around 2:47 a.m. Police say a 69-year-old man was located with a stab wound to the chest. Case of Pennsylvania teen executed for murder back in court nearly 100 years later

DELAWARE COUNY - It's been nearly 100 years since his execution, but the family of one Pennsylvania boy are still maintaining his innocence. Alexander McClay Williams was a 16-year-old student at Glen Mills School in Delaware County when he was accused of murdering 33-year-old Vida Robare.Robare, a "house matron" at the school, was stabbed 47 times with an ice pick in a case that made headlines across the country. Williams, who was doing chores unsupervised at the time of the murder, confessed to the crime three times without an attorney or parent present, according to reports.

Police: 1 dead, 1 rescued after being pulled from water by beachgoers in Wildwood

WILDWOOD, N.J. - Police say Good Samaritans rushed to try and rescue two people at a Wildwood beach earlier this week.One man, 45-year-old Williams Pathy, was reportedly found floating in the water about 100 yards from the shore near Youngs Avenue Wednesday evening. He was pulled from the water by two swimmers.Police responded to find several people rendering aid to Pathy, who was said to be unconscious and unresponsive.
