A pensioner believed to have been struggling to cope under coronavirus lockdown is said to have stabbed his wife before killing himself, an inquest has heard.
Alan Smith, 71, and his wife Elsie were found dead at their home after a neighbour noticed she had not seen them since Boris Johnson announced the Covid-19 lockdown.
The "friendly couple" were said to be worried about being able to buy food because the shops were selling out of food. Mr Smith was also said to be worried about being able to get his tablets for an underlying medical condition.
