A heartbroken family are planning a lively musical marathon in tribute to a beloved Scots dad who died just two years after a devastating motor neurone disease (MND) diagnosis.Patrick 'Pat' McGachan, passed away in November 2023 leaving behind his children Scott, Stuart, Claire and his six grandchildren.
Following his death, from Edinburgh, Scott and Stuart are running an electric Beatles Marathon for a second year to honour their father by raising funds for MND research.
The disease affects the brain and nerves, causing weakness and deteriorates over time. There is no cure – only treatments to reduce the impact it has on a person’s life.
After he experienced motor difficulties, Pat - who was a massive Beatles fan - was told he had MND in November 2021. Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Scott told how the first sign was when he dropped his guitar plectrum.
