A TUI flight attendant was taken to hospital after they reportedly fell from a plane just before the flight departed. The incident happened at East Midlands Airport on Monday, December 16, with emergency services called to the scene at around 4.30pm.

The crew member is said to have opened the door of the plane expecting the stairs to have still been attached to the aircraft, NottinghamshireLive reports.

However, the stairs were no longer, and so the female crew member is said to have fallen. Emergency services were called, including an air ambulance and the airport's fire service, and she was taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

The airport is not responsible for attaching staircases to aircraft; it is the responsibility of the airline's ground handlers.
