The number of people who have died in the UK after contracting coronavirus has passed 37,000, according to the Department of Health.
A total of 37,048 people have died in hospitals, care homes and the wider community after testing positive for the virus in the UK as of 5pm on Monday, the latest figures reveal.
The death toll is up by 134 from 36,914 the day before. In the 24-hour period up to 9am on Tuesday, 109,979 tests were carried out or dispatched.
An additional 2,004 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the last 24 hours. Overall a total of 3,681,295 tests have been carried out and 265,227 cases have been confirmed positive.
