Today, April 21, is the Queen ’s 94th birthday – but why does she have two a year? The Monarch's celebrations today will be very different to previous years.
The annual gun salute that celebrates the Queen's birthday has been cancelled amid the coronavirus lockdown. A Buckingham Palace source said: "Her Majesty was keen that no special measures were put in place to allow gun salutes as she did not feel it appropriate in the current circumstances." In addition to her actual birthday, Her Majesty also has an official celebration in June, also known as Trooping the Colour.
This annual event has also been cancelled due to the global Covid-19 pandemic. But why does the Queen have to birthdays every year?
