Australian rock band Divinyls burst onto the music scene in the 1980s.The group primarily consisted of singer Chrissy Amphlett and guitarist Mark McEntee, with other members changing throughout the years.
Divinyls started out by performing in clubs across Sydney, before signing a deal with Australian film director Ken Cameron. This deal led to them providing the soundtrack for 1982 film Monkey Group. Two singles from the soundtrack were released, with Boys in Town reaching No.8 in the national singles chart. This opportunity proved to be a springboard for Divinyls' music career, with three more albums - Desperate, What a Life!
and Temperamental - being released throughout the 1980s.Then, the band underwent an image overhaul and opted to mix up their sound, moving from hard rock to pop.
Lead singer Chrissy also switched up her fashion, swapping her school girl stage outfit for more glamour fashion. More success followed in the 1990s.
