Inside Amazon Style (Credit: Amazon) LOS ANGELES - Amazon’s first-ever physical store for men’s and women’s clothing had its grand opening last week in Los Angeles, as the company aims to "reimagine in-store shopping" with a technology-driven experience through the app.

The flagship store, called Amazon Style, is located at the Americana at Brand in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale. "Amazon Style is built around personalization.

Our machine learning algorithms produce tailored, real-time recommendations for each customer as they shop," the company previously said of the new store.Customers can use the Amazon Shopping app to scan an item’s QR code and see available sizes, colors and customer ratings.

They can also send items to a fitting room, where a touchscreen allows the customer to browse more styles and request a different size or style that can be delivered to their room "within minutes."Inside the Amazon Style fitting rooms (Credit: Amazon) The app also allows customers to send items they want to a pickup counter so they don’t have to walk around holding the potential purchases.

Focus on accelerating second and precaution doses of covid-19 vaccination: Centre to states
NEW DELHI : Amid the surge of covid cases in some parts of the country, the Centre on Tuesday has directed States and UTs to focus on accelerating second and precaution doses of COVID-19 vaccination.  Rajesh Bhushan, Union Health Secretary reviewed the status of COVID situation through a video conference (VC) with 14 such States that are reporting high number of cases on a week-to-week basis along with increased case positivity combined with low numbers of COVID tests and below average COVID vaccination.  He advised caution and continuous alertness to States reporting a surge in COVID cases during the past few weeks, and to step up vigil against COVID.  The four-fold strategy highlights surveillance of incoming inter-national travelers; community-based surveillance; sentinel site surveillance (health facility-based surveillance and lab-based surveillance); and Whole Genome Sequencing.  States were advised to scan for and report all SARI and ILI cases from all district hospitals, major private hospitals and medical colleges across the districts, and keep a close watch on those geographies where these clusters are emerging.  “States were also strongly advised to strictly monitor epidemiological profile of admitted COVID patients and report the clinical manifestation to Health Ministry, rather than a random or anecdotal reporting.

Police: Off-duty corrections officer carjacked at gunpoint, shoots at alleged carjacker in Feltonville
PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating after an off-duty corrections officer was carjacked at gunpoint and shot at the alleged carjacker in Feltonville on Monday night. According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, officers with the 25th District received a 911 call for a robbery and gunshots on the 200 block of E Roosevelt Boulevard around 11 p.m. When officers arrived on location, they were met by an off-duty corrections officer, 59, who said he was leaving a friend's house and getting into his Toyota Avalon when he was approached by a man with a gun who pulled him out of the car, police say. According to authorities, the alleged carjacker got into the driver's seat of the car and began to drive away as the off-duty corrections officer fired five shots at the suspect and the car. The suspect sped off in the car and officers located it about 25 minutes later on the 4900 block of Bingham Street, officials say. Small says the vehicle was found with five bullet holes in it and fresh blood inside the car. Authorities say officers were also notified that a 21-year-old shooting victim with a gunshot wound in each arm showed up for treatment at Temple Hospital. Small says there is a possibility that the shooting victim may be the alleged carjacker and authorities are investigating. According to police, the off-duty officer said the suspect was wearing a surgical mask and a hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head.
