UK workers will be asked to cover their faces when businesses re-open as part of plans to gradually lift lockdown, according to reports.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce the measure on Sunday when he sets out his roadmap for how restrictions will gradually be lifted.

Although face masks will not be made compulsory, Brits are to be urged to wear them at work, on public transport and while out shopping to reduce the risk of a second wave of Covid-19 infections, the Telegraph reports.

It is expected that most people will be asked to wear non-medical coverings, to avoid running down supplies needed for NHS and social care staff, and other key workers.
