He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. UK death toll rises by 205 in 24 hours before Boris Johnson's crunch speech

The number of people who have died from coronavirus in the UK has risen by 205, taking the country’s death toll to at least 31,675.

NHS England confirmed 178 people had died in the region overnight, and toll in England alone now stands at a staggering 23,149.

Public Health Wales reported a further 12 deaths, and bringing the number of fatalities in the country to 1,111. Scotland also saw an increase, with another ten deaths, totalling 1,857.

Northern Ireland said five more people had died in the country, and the region’s toll now stands at 435.
