Comedian Janey Godley has opened up about her health, confirming she is now receiving end-of-life care.The 63 year old Glasgow native had to cancel her autumn tour earlier this month on the advice of her doctors to stop working.
In a heartfelt video posted on X, which used to be known as Twitter, Janey shared that she's entering palliative care and will be moving into a hospice as she battles cancer.
Janey bravely spoke about the "devastating news" explaining that chemotherapy was no longer an option for her. "The chemo ran out of options, and I couldn't take anymore of it," she disclosed. "The cancer has spread, so it looks like this will be getting to near the end of it, and it's really difficult to speak about this and say it to people." She continued with a poignant message: "It is devastating news, to know that I'm facing end of life but we all come to an end some time," adding, "I don't know how long I've got left before anybody asks, I'm not a tick tock, I just want you all to know that I appreciate all the love you've gave me.
Cancer affects one in two people and it's affected me", reports the Mirror. In conclusion, Janey sent out a message of love and support to others dealing with a "life-limiting disease" and explained that her condition was the reason behind the cancellation of her tour.The comedian first revealed her ovarian cancer diagnosis back in November 2021, shortly after she found viral fame with her dubbed pastiches of Nicola Sturgeon’s coronavirus news briefings during the pandemic In 2022, she informed her followers on X that a scan showed she had gotten the all clear, with "no evidence of disease".
