Two people were rushed to hospital following a crash which closed a major road near Tameside. Officers were called out to the A628 Manchester Road, near the border of Hollingworth and Tintwistle, at 6.19pm on Sunday (October 13).

Derbyshire Police says the incident involved a Chevrolet Cruze car and a Vauxhall Combo van. The road was taped off while emergency services worked at the scene.

Neither casualty is believed to have suffered serious injuries in the incident, Derbyshire Police said. The road, which is part of the route between Manchester and Sheffield via Woodhead Pass, opened after almost three hours.
