Janey Godley has passed away at the age of 63, just one month after she told fans she would be receiving palliative care.The star, who received an honorary doctorate from the University of Glasgow while in her hospice bed, died in “surrounded by her loved ones”, her management has confirmed.The comedian announced she would be going into a hospice in a video shared on social media in September, almost three years on from Janey publicly announcing that she had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
She shared her ovarian cancer diagnosis in November 2021, and a year later, she took to Twitter (X) to share the news that she had been given the all-clear, with "no evidence of disease".
However, a later scan showed signs of cancer in her abdomen. Despite this blow though, Janey was determined to press on with her tour scheduled for February and March 2023.
In an interview with Lorraine Kelly, the star spoke about a conversation Jimmy Carr, who encouraged her not to give up on touring.
