Lauren Laverne said that she was “thrilled” to be back on our screens as she returned to The One Show on Tuesday, 26 November - just days after sharing the news that she had got the “all-clear” after being diagnosed with cancer. The Desert Island Discs revealed in August that she’d been diagnosed, though reassured fans that it was caught "early and unexpectedly during a screening test".
After undergoing treatment, Lauren, 46, made her highly-anticipated return to The One Show where she presented alongside Alex Jones.
As she sat on the iconic sofa, the BBC Radio 6 music host explained that she was feeling “great” as she headed back to work. “I feel great, really really pleased to be back, obviously it’s lovely to be back on the iconic sofa instead of watching at home on mine,” she said when co-host Alex asked how she was doing. “And largely I feel good because I had so many lovely messages from viewers, I want to say a massive thank you to everybody who has been in touch, especially people who have been through cancer treatment themselves.” She continued: “It’s been so encouraging and really touching the way that people have been sending me those messages.
I am thrilled to be back and what a great first show.” After making her return, viewers at home expressed their delight at seeing Lauren back on their screens. “Great to see Lauren back! #TheOneShow,” wrote one. “Welcome back Lauren!
