A man has been fined after he was caught breaking the UK coronavirus lockdown by driving 125 miles – to buy bread. Officers from Leicestershire road policing unit were left stunned after pulling the driver over on the M1 after clocking it at 110mph.
The force said the driver had two young children in the car and he was questioned on why he was driving from Nottingham all the way to London.
He then gave the incredible excuse that he was driving the 125 mile journey to “buy bread because it was £1 cheaper”. In a tweet, the police force said: “Just stopped a car doing 110mph on the M1 north. “The purpose of the journey from Nottingham?
