Early plans over when the Premier League can return have been cleared by Boris Johnson’s office. The Prime Minister and his team have overseen a framework which could see players back in action before the end of the summer, with plans set to be laid out in a meeting between all 20 clubs on Friday.

League bosses are said to have been in talks with the government for a number of weeks concerning the ongoing spread of Covid-19, and their desire to finish the season now looks more likely than not.

Fixtures are set to take place behind closed doors in order to ensure fans are not at unnecessary risk, but it remains to be seen whether players will be happy to get back to work.
