Cars piled high with rubbish queue as tips open for the first time in lockdown

Hundreds of people queued in their cars outside recycling centres in Wales today as some opened for the first time since the lockdown.

The three waste tips in Wrexham are the first in North Wales to reopen under a modest relaxing of lockdown rules by the Welsh Government.

Vehicles, many groaning with unwanted items, lined a road in Brymbo ahead of the opening of the facility at 12pm, with a PCSO also at the scene.

One motorist queuing to enter, with its boot left open, had several mattresses stacked on the roof of their car, with a sofa taking up the back seats. Do you have a coronavirus story?
