Coronavirus: Council trains up more staff to help shielded residents

More response officers are being trained up by Renfrewshire Council to further support residents who have been shielded from human contact.Around 3,600 letters have already been issued to residents who have a medical condition which puts them at high risk of contracting Covid-19.These people have been instructed to not leave home under any circumstances - not even for food or medicine.A support service has been set up by the council which provides a food and medicine delivery service to shielded residents.

People can also access a helpline if they need further support.And council chiefs have now said they will be adding extra manpower to the service, as they expect numbers on the shielded list to increase.A total of 15 additional officers
