Police in China have seized more than 13,000 animal carcasses over fears they could spread coronavirus. The bust was made in the city of Jilin, the former capital of Jilin province, in the northeast of the country.
Authorities with the Baishishan Forestry Bureau said the raid was the result of a four-month operation. Images released by the Bureau show protected species including owls and sables - a small mammal hunted for its fur - laid out on the ground.
Also found were a number of high-powered airguns and catapults used to kill the animals. The police found a total of 13,410 illegally poached and trafficked wild animal carcasses during the raid, which was slowed down because of the ongoing lockdown.
