The country has gone into lockdown and people are now only allowed to leave the house once a day to exercise or go to the shop to buy "essentials".

Thousands of non-essential stores nationwide have now closed to stop the spread of coronavirus, leaving just supermarkets, hardware stores, off-licenses and garages.

During Prime Minsister Boris Johnson's announcement on Monday, he said Brits should stay at home unless absolutely necessary to buy essential food or medicine.

But the lockdown measures have left many confused as to what counts as "essential" shopping. The government has not set out any official guidelines - but there are four questions you should ask yourself before heading to the shops, Manchester Evening News reports.
